Description:

Johnson City Limits:

Polygon layer of municipal city limits boundary of Johnson City, TN. Original layer developed from hard copy tax map parcel information and were supplemented by official annexation folder data of every subdivision passed by City Commission of Johnson City since 1885. These folders are kept in Planning Dept and are planned to be scanned and stored in DocStar. As annexations were passed, all corresponding city limits and additional miscellaneous zone layers based on city limits were updated. Annexation used to have a 30 day waiting period and Development Services GIS would try to update every corresponding layer and information the day before the official date. Now when the annexation passes on a Thursday night Commission night, it is official that night. Data SHOULD be updated the next day on FRIDAY following the commission meeting.

Bluff City Limits:

Updated from Sullivan County Dec 2014 data on 10/18/2016.

Carter County Boundary:

Polygon feature layer originally created from the parcel outlining tax map 400 and 100 series digitized at GIS Division in the 1980s.
